AutoTrain, in association with Winterhighland has written and developed an Android App which delivers snow report data for the 5 commercial snow sports areas in Scotland. The App has been written with a specially customised compression routine which reduces the entire report to just a few Kb enabling very efficient transmission of the report data to clients. This compression is particularly valuable in Scotland where mobile phone data connections are highly variable and are frequently inadequate for normal web browsing. By reducing the reports to just a few Kb the app, a full report can be delivered quickly over the slowest of connections.

The Winterhighland App is the first commercial use of the AutoTrain Ski Resort App, which has been designed specifically to enable the delivery of report data using minimal bandwidth in challenging mountain environments.
